Made from 100% Grenache and a full-bodied, layered, fruit-loaded effort, the Banyuls Rimage offers lots of blackberry liqueur, candied licorice and spice on both the nose and palate. Drink this straight up delicious, classy dessert wine anytime over the coming 2-3 years (it will keep longer if you’re so inclined).
This ultra rare specialty from Champagne is a blend of half brandy made from Champagne and half grape juice from the region. The Dumangin is then aged for seven years in a combination of vessels including used Crozes-Hermitage barrels. The result is a semi sweet aperitif cut from the same mold as Pineau de Charentes. Ratafia almost never makes it out of Champagne and seeing it in Paris would be exceptional, but in the states it is almost a miracle to get some.
The Kopke LBV ages for nearly 5 years in oak casks before bottling. While ready to be drunk now, this will keep well for the next decade or so. Serve alongside soft cheeses and sweet desserts. Intense ruby-purple color. Bouquet wonderfully exuberant and vibrant with jams and sweet ripe fruits aromas. A full-mouth and involving sensation with very rich and juicy flavors of wild fruits. Full-bodied and strong on the taste with a delicious and persistent finish.
Very explosive aromas of salts and almonds. The palate offers similar flavors in a very elegant framework.
This lush sweet white wine offers alluring flavors of orange, pear and honey. It's not too alcoholic, and has enough acidity for balance. Moscatel.
A decadent, impeccable Sauternes at a fantastic price from importer Kermit Lynch: It showcases an impressive combo of power and finesse, the hallmark of Haut-Barsac. Sinewy and graceful, gorgeous minerality with plenty of ravishing botrytis, it is unusual to see a wine with this pedigree available at reasonable price. Don’t underestimate the number of occasions this beauty will serve you. It is a habit-forming aperitif with or without foie gras. It marries better with cheeses than most reds, and the French are known to admire it with Sunday’s roast chicken.
Offers layers of macerated date, ganache, warm caraway, buckwheat honey and chocolate-covered orange peel notes, with a deep, intense finish that lets a wonderfully smoky hint curl through. The power is obvious, the range and definition more subtle.
The merit of Otima was to show to show Port's versatility as an all year round, anytime drink, dyspelling the many myths about Port. Clean and modern. It is a great fit as an aperitif, especially with almonds and cheese.
